IIA of Houston to Direct Area CIC Program

January 20, 2004

The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, based in Austin, Texas, and the Independent Insurance Agents (IIA) of Houston jointly announced that the IIA of Houston is assuming administrative leadership of the Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) Program in Houston.

The CIC Program, founded in 1969, is the nation’s leading source of advanced, technical education for the practicing insurance professional. CIC is a designation program as well as a continuing education opportunity.

The 2004 program schedule for Houston has recently been finalized, and the IIA of Houston will conduct its first CIC institute May 5-8, 2004.

“We are working closely with IIAH President Steve Davis, Executive Director Carole Shelton, and Director of Education Renee’ Stager to meet the educational needs of the insurance community in Houston,” William T. Hold, president of the Society of CIC, said. “With this new partnership, we can offer an expanded schedule, and our programs will become even more accessible to industry professionals in the Houston area and throughout Texas.”

“The national reputation of CIC and the top-quality curricula were important factors in the decision to take on the coordination and delivery of the five institutes through our Association,” Steve Davis explained. “By offering these proven programs to the insurance professionals of Houston, it significantly enhances the career path opportunities available to participants. We expect our relationship with the Society of CIC to have an overall positive effect on the insurance industry in our area.”
