June 24, 2004

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas named Cherrie Bland of the Grimes Insurance Agency, Lubbock, the IIAT ACSR of the Year during the IIAT Annual Convention held recently in Dallas.

Liz Patterson of Myron F. Steves & Company, Houston, sponsor of the award, made the presentation during a special CSR Luncheon.

Bland has been an Accredited Customer Service Representative in personal lines since 1998. In addition to the ACSR, she holds a Professional Insurance Women of Texas designation. She has been in customer service at the agency for 11 years. Bland has been a leader in the Federation of Insurance Women of Texas, serving as corresponding secretary and as chair of various committees. She is presently the FIWT Liaison to the IIAT Committee on Accredited Customer Service Representatives.

She is a volunteer in her community, in her church and in several charity organizations, including one dedicated to raising college scholarships for local high school students.

About Bland, Patterson said, “One person in their letter of recommendation of this year’s winner wrote, ‘… she is the ultimate team player, doing whatever it takes to get the job done … I know of no other person more deserving of this recognition.'”

The ACSR of the Year award recognizes the outstanding accredited customer service representative among IIAT member agencies. Bland is now automatically nominated for the National ACSR of the Year Award, presented by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. The award includes a $1,500 cash prize and an all expenses paid trip to the annual IIAT Convention.

ACSR is a respected professional designation for customer service representatives in independent insurance agencies. Developed by the Independent Insurance Agents of America in 1988, the ACSR program has 13,000 designees in the United States, with more than 3,000 in Texas. IIAT offers the only ACSR training program in the state.
