North Texas-based independent insurance and financial services brokerage firm, Higginbotham & Associates, announced it has acquired B. Barfield Group, based in McKinney. The merger brings to Higginbotham employee benefits broker Bourdon Barfield and a service team that will help further integrate the firm into the northern marketplace as it continues in its statewide expansion plans.
The Group’s customers now have access to an expanded range of insurance and financial-services offerings by drawing on the full resources of Higginbotham’s Business Insurance, Claims/Risk Management, Personal Insurance, Bonds, Employee Benefits, Executive Compensation, Worksite Benefits, Life Insurance and Retirement Plan Services departments.
The McKinney agency, located at 103 South Church Street, will collaborate with Higginbotham’s four other North Texas offices to provide business and individual customers with comprehensive coverage and risk management services.
“Local business customers have relied on the Group for their employee benefits, but now they can fulfill all their insurance requirements through the source they already know and trust with their financial services,” said Barfield, who was named a Higginbotham managing director.
“The merger provides local customers the best of both worlds – personal service backed by the comprehensive inventory of products that a large regional broker can deliver,” said Rusty Reid, Higginbotham’s president and CEO.
With 15 years experience in the insurance arena, Barfield has owned and operated McKinney’s largest group benefits practice since 1995. An active participant in both community and professional organizations, Barfield has served on the board of McKinney’s YMCA and currently serves on the board of the McKinney Food Pantry. He is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, the Dallas Health Underwriters, the Texas Heath Underwriters and the National Association of Health Underwriters.
Higginbotham & Associates has five office locations: Fort Worth, Dallas, Denton, McKinney and Weatherford.
