Higginbotham & Associates Opens Austin Office

Fort Worth, Texas-based insurance and financial services brokerage firm Higginbotham & Associates announced it has launched services for Central and South Texas with the opening of a new Austin office.

Newly hired managing directors Greg Meserole and Matt Burns, most recently senior vice presidents and partners with Nieman Hanks Puryear, a division of Frost Insurance Agency Inc., will staff the new office.

Higginbotham recently expanded in McKinney, Texas, with the acquisition of B. Barfield Group.

The Austin expansion brings Higginbotham’s total number of offices to six, as the company looks to build on its success in the commercial property and casualty and risk management consulting markets.

Meserole, whose practice consists of commercial property and casualty insurance and risk management consulting, has served a broad variety of businesses and high-profile individuals in more than 19 years of practice in Austin.

After seven years in agency partnership with his father, Meserole joined Nieman Hanks Puryear in 1992. Meserole is a past president of Independent Insurance Agents of Austin (IIA of Austin), is currently an Education Committee member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT).

Burns has been in the insurance industry as a commercial broker for 10 years, focusing his practice in the life sciences, social services and medical industries. An Austin resident for nine years, he currently serves on the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Austin, as well as the Young Agents Committee for IIAT.

Higginbotham & Associates offers a full line of commercial, property and casualty, personal, life, employee benefits, retirement plans, bond and risk-management insurance services. It has served individuals and businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1948.

The full-service financial services firm plans to add an undetermined number of employees to the Austin office.
