IIA Dallas Awards Myron F. Steves Scholarship to MHBT Account Executive

October 22, 2004

David Ball, an account executive with McQueary Henry Bowles Troy L.L.P. (MHBT) in Dallas, was recently awarded the Myron F. Steves Scholarship by the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD) at the organization’s annual Installation of Officers Banquet at the Belo Mansion.

The Myron F. Steves Insurance Professional Scholarship Program awards individuals who are employed by a member agency of the IIAD with annual scholarships to help them complete courses for an industry certification of their choice, such as Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Certified Risk Manager (CRM). The applicant must demonstrate a commitment to continued education by being already involved in course work for an insurance designation or by showing a desire to obtain a designation.

The Myron F. Steves and Company sponsors the scholarship and supports continued education within the insurance industry.

“This is a great honor and a nice way to be recognized in the industry,” Ball said. “Through this scholarship from IIAD, I’m able to take classes to earn my certification, which will help me gain invaluable skills I can use to serve MHBT’s clients more effectively.”

Founded in 1883, IIAD is the oldest trade association in Dallas County. Dedicated to serving members in key areas of education, employment services, and industry initiatives, the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas is one of the strongest local associations in the nation.

“The Education Committee was responsible for the selection of this year’s scholarship award recipients,” said Linda Leos, director of IIAD. “It was clear from the comments of the committee that Mr. Ball was extremely deserving of the scholarship, and we are pleased to award it to him.”

MHBT is based in Dallas and also has an office in Fort Worth, Texas. MHBT and its precursors have offered global insurance, bonds and financial services since 1926. The firm offers commercial risk management and insurance services, employee benefits and financial services, construction bond services, property and casualty insurance, personal insurance and surety and specialized services.
