IIABA Honors Two CAA members for Best Practices

October 26, 2004

Austin, Texas-based Combined Agents of America, LLC (CAA) announced two of its member agencies, Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts and Bosworth & Associates, have been included as part of an elite group of independent insurance agencies around the United States participating in the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) “Best Practices” Study Group.

More than 900 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 195 agencies qualified for the honor, thirty in each of six revenue categories and fifteen in a seventh category for mega-sized agencies. An IIABA affiliated state association or an insurance company must first nominate the agency which then must qualify based on outstanding customer services, growth, stability and financial management.

The Best Practices Study was initiated by IIABA in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance. The annual study of leading independent insurance agencies, which is conducted for IIABA by Reagan Consulting of Atlanta, Ga., documents the business practices of these “best” agencies and urges others to adopt similar practices.

Bigham-Kliewer-Chapman-Watts, founded in 1952 and based in Killeen, Texas, offers business and personal property and casualty insurance as well as employee benefits, life insurance and financial services.

Bosworth & Associates was founded in 1939 by Fred Bosworth, father of agency president, Michael Bosworth. Based in Tyler, Texas, the agency serves East Texas offering a full range of products and will add a new product for the medical industry encompassing all 50 states in 2005.

Founded in 1997, Combined Agents of America LLC (CAA) has 30 independent insurance agencies located throughout Texas. By funneling the agencies’ combined premiums, CAA brings larger volume commitments to insurance companies, while enabling its members to greatly improve their bottom line and realize greater benefits from insurance companies, vendor discounts, profit sharing and other incentives.
