TSLA Installs New Officers, Directors at Annual Meeting

The Texas Surplus Lines Association Inc. announced the election of new officers and directors for the coming year at it’s 48th Annual Meeting held Nov. 15, 2004, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas.

The new officers include: President – Marshall Leicht, executive vice president and marketing manager, Leicht General Agency, Houston; Vice President – Don Etheredge, managing partner, Texas Commercial Insurance Facilities, Tyler; and Secretary/Treasurer – Len Kaplan, executive vice president and CFO, Delta General Agency, Houston.

Newly installed directors are: Rob Arnold, Myron F. Steves & Co. (three-year term); Shannon Dahlke, McClelland & Hine of Houston LLP (three-year term); and Monte Stringer, U.S. Risk Inc. (three-year term).

TSLA’s existing directors are: Gay Aulenbacher, Leicht General Agency; Michael Berry, Specialty Insurance Managers Inc.; Lorrie Cheshier, McClelland & Hine Inc.; Lana Parks, The Parks Group Inc.; Paul Rainey, RSI International Inc.; and Kathy van Eeten, Crump Insurance Services Inc.

The TSLA Executive Committee consists of the current officers and the immediate past president, Banos Georgiou, Burnett & Company.

During the business meeting at the Nov. 15 event, the “President’s Award” was presented to Len Kaplan. Kaplan has served as chair of the Regulatory Liaison Committee for many years and did an outstanding job during his time as chairperson.

The “Don King Committee Member of the Year” award was presented to Rosemarie Marshall, Heath Insurance Brokers of Texas, for her service on the Regulatory Liaison Committee. She received a plaque for her service and dedication to TSLA. This award is given out each year in memory of past member and friend, Don King.

The Avrohm Wisenberg scholarship recipients were Terah Casey, Specialty Insurance Managers Inc. and Karen Grubbs, RSI International Inc. Casey received a CIC scholarship and Grubbs received a CISR scholarship. In addition, both recipients will receive a cash prize of $100 once their course is completed. The scholarships are donated to TSLA each year by the Society of CIC.

London American Risk Specialists Inc. was the lucky firm to win the full ACSR scholarship donated to TSLA by the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.
