August 23, 2006

Independent insurance agency principals, key personnel and leading industry vendors will gather in Waco, Texas, in mid-October for the second annual Small Agency Conference sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.

The conference is scheduled for October 15 and 16 at the Waco Convention Center.

According to the IIAT, last year the first-ever two-day conference drew more than 245 industry professionals.

“This year we anticipate more than 300,” said Robert Hempkins, IIAT president.

To date more than 40 exhibitors including companies looking for new appointments and MGAs who want to work with smaller agencies have registered for the combined trade show, sales and technical sessions. This conference is specifically targeted at agents who write primarily small accounts regardless of staff size or revenues.

“This conference exceeded our expectations last year and this fall we fully expect similar successes,” said Hempkins. “Many attendees told me how much they appreciated the small agency slant and how valuable they found the Meet With Markets trade show.”

The theme for the Monday, Oct. 16 luncheon is Small Business Trends in Texas and it will feature a top Texas state official as keynote speaker. Detailed information about sessions and online registration are available online at iiat.org.

Sponsors for this year’s conference include: The Republic Group, Service Lloyds Insurance Co., Travelers, Texas Mutual Insurance Co., Beacon Insurance Group, National Lloyds Insurance Co. and Insurors Indemnity Co.

The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas is one of the nation’s largest state associations of independent insurance agencies. Nearly 1,800 agencies representing a network of some 13,000 agents and their employees are members.
