Winn Joins Burns & Wilcox Dallas Office as Transportation Assistant

October 24, 2006

Burns & Wilcox, a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based national specialty insurance wholesaler, underwriter and managing general agent, announced the addition of Krista Winn, who joins the company’s Dallas, Texas, office in the position of transportation assistant. The announcement was made by Vice President Don Carson, manager of the company’s Dallas/Fort Worth office.

Winn has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, with particular expertise in production and sales. She currently works in new business production and servicing. Winn specializes in auto liability, physical liability, garage liability and open lot dealers.

Burns & Wilcox has experienced significant growth in recent years by focusing on a number of specialized surplus lines products, such as environmental, large property, directors & officers, high-value homeowners, and personal and commercial umbrella.

The area of transportation is a quickly growing segment of the excess & surplus marketplace. Coverages include commercial auto, including truckers and motor truck cargo coverage. Garage liability and open lot dealers are coverages that have been in high demand in recent years, both in the Dallas/Fort Worth market and nationally.

Environmental is one of the fastest-growing areas of insurance for Burns & Wilcox, as virtually any business has an environmental exposure of some kind. Similarly, the area of Artisan Contractors continues to evolve, as contractors become increasingly specialized and prevalent, with few artisan contractors (or agents) realizing that specialized coverage exists for this class.
