Texas University Students Honored with Scholarships from ICT

The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) recently awarded scholarships to 15 university students, each of whom were acknowledged by their professors as exemplary students.

The University of North Texas scholarship recipients are Bailey Clark, Rustin Goodgion, Travis Gibson, Christina Ngui and Erin Moss. Dr. Brenda Wells, University of North Texas Associate Professor of Insurance, said she has no doubt that these students will become successful in their business career.

The University of Texas at Austin scholarship recipients are: McKenzie Eakin, Mary Lynne Hess, Amirali Ali, Danielle Painter and Shana Bayer. Patricia Arnold, lecturer, Risk and Operations Management at University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, said she was amazed at what these students had already achieved in their brief business careers.

Baylor University scholarship recipients are Jeff Davis, Snow Luong, Russell Chance, Stephanie Corley and Brooke Ferguson. Dr. Jim Garven, Frank S. Groner Memorial Chair of Finance at Baylor, said these students represented Baylor’s best and brightest.

Earlier this year, ICT donated $5,000 to the Glen L. Taylor Endowed Chair in Insurance at the University of North Texas. Since 2002, ICT has awarded $80,000 in academic scholarships to 96 students studying insurance and risk management at Baylor, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Texas.

The Insurance Council of Texas remains committed to helping students in higher education learn more of the intricacies of insurance through the financial assistance of scholarships such as these.
