Texas-based National Insurance Partners Inc. (NIP) announced that in partnership with veteran executive compensation expert, Steven Cross, it is building a new company, Cogent Compensation Partners (Cogent), that will focus on executive compensation and corporate governance.

Steven Cross has served as the outside advisor to numerous Fortune 500 companies as well as many other public and private entities to provide comprehensive executive compensation consulting services, including the design of incentive plans which help attract and retain executives, enhance the linkage between pay and performance, and the creation of shareholder value. NIP and Cogent intend to add additional executive compensation experts around the U.S. to create a national presence in the field.

Cross is a 19-year veteran in the executive compensation consulting business and has successfully built his practice by providing comprehensive independent and innovative solutions to compensation committees and executives in all major industries. Most recently, he served eight years as market leader of executive compensation for Mercer Human Resources Consulting’s Houston office. Previously, Cross was a member of KPMG’s performance and compensation management practice and partner-in-charge of KPMG’s Southwest Region, with offices in Houston, Dallas, and Denver.

John Gleason, investor/adviser of National Insurance Partners, said, “NIP’s goal is to partner with quality executive compensation firms and provide extraordinary and unique services to directors and officers of corporate America.

NIP, which has expertise in the directors and officers insurance arena, will “offer customized solutions to its clients—a unique offering in the marketplace today,” Gleason said. “NIP helps corporations attract and retain directors, improve standards of governance, and bolster shareholder value.”

National Insurance Partners specializes in board of director/trustee protection, directors’ and officers’ liability insurance, property and casualty insurance, risk management, executive compensation consulting, executive and employee benefits, and wealth management.
