IIAT Names Arn and Flores ACSR, Young Agent of the Year, Respectively

June 7, 2007

Ann Arn, a commercial lines CSR with Gans & Smith Insurance Agency in Longview, Texas, has won the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas Accredited Customer Service Representative of the Year award. Additionally, Lori Flores, vice president of Frost Insurance Agency, San Antonio, was named André Juneau Young Agent of the Year. Both awards were presented recently at the trade association’s 110th Annual Conference & Trade Show.

Fred Steves, executive director of Myron F. Steves, sponsor of the ACSR award, presented the award to Arn.

“Ann is a 30-year veteran of the industry who continues to look for ways to improve, whether it’s exploring new agency service ideas, staying on top of coverage or fine tuning the agency automation system,” Steves said.

Arnn holds the ACSR designation in both personal lines and commercial lines. Her care in serving clients is well-known, especially among producers who frequently mention that customers make it a point to bring her name up in conversation and comment about how much they appreciate the care she shows for clients.

Her community and civic experience includes volunteering in her church, as a teacher in a comprehensive educational program for children and at the community rescue mission.

André Juneau Young Agent of the Year

The presentation of the André Juneau Young Agent of the Year award was made by Clyde Fitch of Travelers, sponsor of the award.

In making the presentation Fitch said, “this year’s winner is an excellent example of accomplishment, involvement, volunteer contribution, and courage for young agents everywhere.” He noted that Flores has been an insurance professional all her adult life, having started at age 17, when her mother urged her to get a summer job.

Fitch told attendees at the awards luncheon that Flores has worked her way from CSR to sales to senior management. She continues to serve the IIAT membership in a number of capacities including service as the president-elect of the local agents association, as co-chair of the young agents, and leader of several local projects including the IIAT’s “Party 101: Consequences” student education program. She works diligently on IIAT’s IMPACT campaign. In the coming fiscal year she will serve on the Young Agents Advisory Council.

This year’s winner has been recognized by the leading business journal in the community. “She was awarded the Rising Star Award, given to those who have shown an exemplary commitment to their industry and community through hard work and determination,” explained Fitch

In addition to her demanding professional workload, Flores is involved in the community, serving on the board of a local children’s home and working with the local fire and police departments for the benefit of the children.

Fitch said this year’s winner balances an incredibly busy professional life with her duties as a single mother of two teenagers.

The award is named in honor of André Juneau, a past Young Agent of the Year and past president of the association, whose life conveys a brilliant example of what a young agent of the year ought to be.
