Louisiana Regulators Crack Down on Agents Ruston and Shreveport

Insurance agents in Shreveport and Ruston, La., have been cited by the Louisiana Department of Insurance for allegedly participating in fraudulent or illegal activities.

Carlos Vandarryl Boston of Shreveport has been fined $5,000 fine notice for allegedly manufacturing and presenting a fraudulent insurance identification card to a customer. Boston is alleged to have created and issued a fraudulent identification card to a customer to submit to the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles as proof of insurance. The DMV contacted the insurance company listed on the card and was advised that the customer was not covered by them during the time in question.

Boston has 30 days to pay the $5,000 fine or his licenses will be suspended until the fine is paid. He also has 30 days to file a written demand for an administrative hearing to contest this action taken by the Department of Insurance.

Olatunji Kareem Sule of Ruston has been accused of misappropriating premiums. His insurance licenses have been suspended for six months and he was served with a $1,000 fine notice. Sule is alleged to have collected $1,486.65 in premiums from policyholders, which he did not remit to the insurance company. His cash bond was applied toward this amount leaving him owing the company $1,305.84.

Sule was issued an Industrial Fire license in December 2007 which expired in April 2009. He currently holds a Life Insurance license issued in May 2008 and a Home Service license issued in December 2007, both of which are valid through April 2010. His valid licenses will be suspended for six months beginning 30 days from time of service. Sule has 30 days to request a hearing with the Department and seek reversal of this decision.
