Swantner & Gordon Insurance Agency, headquartered in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Fort Worth-based Higginbotham & Associates have jointly announced the merger of their operations. The combined firm has more than 500 professionals providing insurance, risk management and employee benefit solutions through 16 offices statewide.
“We’ve found a partner in Higginbotham that shares our business philosophies,” said Swantner & Gordon Managing Partner Randy Lee. “Our firms have similar operating structures, employee cultures, long-term visions and passion for Texas. This partnership will allow Swantner & Gordon to maintain its local identity while leveraging Higginbotham’s resources to enhance our products and client services.”
Since 1995, Swantner & Gordon has grown from 30 employees and one office to more than 120 employees and four offices in Corpus Christi, Houston, Victoria and Portland. The firm ranks as the nation’s 73rd largest independent insurance brokerage firm based on revenue (Insurance Journal, August 2010).
Since 2007, Higginbotham has expanded its operations throughout Texas by aligning with independent insurance firms that have strong footholds in their local markets. In addition to Swantner & Gordon, Higginbotham has partnered with firms in Arlington, Friendswood, Houston, McKinney, Waco and Wichita Falls.
The joining of Swantner & Gordon and Higginbotham will rank the firm as one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in Texas.

Higginbotham’s employee benefits practice in Houston, led by Managing Director Beth Madison, will pool resources with Swantner & Gordon’s property/casualty office in Houston, led by Partner Dudley Ray, to offer a single source solution for comprehensive insurance products and services.
