Insurance Council of Texas Awards Scholarships

Insurance and risk management students at four Texas universities were recently awarded $40,000 in academic scholarships from the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) Education Foundation. The students attend St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Baylor University in Waco, the University of North Texas in Denton and the University of Texas at Austin.

“Every scholarship recipient was highly recommended by their professor and each student has exceptional qualities,” said Tony Gonzalez, chairman of the ICT Education Foundation. “The ICT scholarships are our way of rewarding these outstanding students and encouraging them to seek employment in the insurance industry.”

St. Mary’s students awarded ICT scholarships were Scott Hilliard, Allyshea Puchi-Cortez, Francisco Ramirez-Gaston, Angelica Saenz and Joseph Santos.

University of North Texas students receiving ICT scholarships were Kathryn Krasner, Samantha Reed, Cassandra Wilcox, Erika Villavicencio and Jin Na.

Baylor University students receiving ICT scholarships were Ashley Mireles, Jordan Bradley, Andrew Sherwood, Michael Wright and Zachari Reece.

University of Texas at Austin students receiving ICT scholarships were Bo Shi, Yinglu Deng, Ross Mizell, Val Rich and Brittanie Jones.

Each student received a $2,000 scholarship as well as an invitation to attend ICT’s annual Mid-Year Symposium in Austin.
