Heisz and Midanek Elected to HCC Insurance Holdings Board

Houston-based HCC Insurance Holdings Inc. announced that Leslie Stone Heisz and Deborah Hicks Midanek have been elected as independent members of the company’s board of directors.

Heisz will also serve on the Enterprise Risk Oversight Committee and the Investment & Finance Committee. Heisz is a retired investment banking and finance executive with more than 20 years of investment banking experience. She was a managing director of Lazard Freres & Co. LLC, where she provided strategic financial advisory services for clients in a variety of industries. Heisz previously served as a managing director of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (and its predecessor Wasserstein Perella & Co.) and as a director, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions and leveraged finance and led the Gaming and Leisure Group and the Los Angeles office. Prior to 1995, Heisz served as a vice president at Salomon Brothers Inc. and as a senior consultant at Price Waterhouse.

Midanek will also serve on the Enterprise Risk Oversight Committee and the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committee. Since 2004, Midanek has served as the president of Solon Group, a business development firm which provides turnaround services and strategic advice to organizations in transition. Previously, Midanek held several positions with Glass and Associates Inc., a turnaround management firm, including president, chief operating officer and managing principal. Prior to that, she held various executive positions with AlixPartners Inc., Solon Asset Management L.P., Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. and Bankers Trust Company.
