Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford has selected Dr. Lowell Nicholas as Insurance Deputy Commissioner at the Arkansas Insurance Department. Dr. Nicholas will oversee the department’s Health Insurance Rate Review Division.
Dr. Nicholas will report directly to the Commissioner and will be responsible for determining and formulating policies relating to the new health care initiatives as well as providing direction and coordination for other agency activities.
He will have direct oversight and supervision of the Department’s rate review process for health insurance which is a provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act. This new position is funded through a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Nicholas most recently served as Special Projects director for the Arkansas Insurance Department.
