Forecasters say two tornados hit the Houston area during recent thunderstorms that flooded roads and knocked out power.
The National Weather Service said a tornado with 95 mph winds touched down on Jan. 9 in Mission Bend, 25 miles southwest of Houston. At least 10 homes suffered damage. No injuries were reported.
Weather teams also determined a tornado with winds up to 75 mph hit a mall in Texas City, 40 miles southeast of Houston. Nobody was hurt but the mall had roof damage.
Peck Elementary School in Houston was closed on Jan. 10 due to nearby flooding.
CenterPoint Energy reported about 200 customers still without electricity on Jan. 10.
