Three Small Earthquakes Recorded in North-Central Arkansas

The U.S. Geological Survey reports three earthquakes in Arkansas – including a magnitude 3.9 quake near Trumann.

No injuries or damage are reported.

The USGS says the quake was recorded at 4:28 p.m. Saturday four miles southwest of Trumann – about 45 miles northwest of Memphis, Tenn. Trumann police say they fielded several calls about the quake – but no injuries or damage are reported.

The USGS says the first quake was a magnitude 1.9 recorded about six miles south of Greers Ferry at 5 p.m. Friday. The second was a magnitude 2.1 recorded at 12:33 a.m. Saturday six miles southeast of Clinton.

Both areas are about 55 miles north of Little Rock.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans.
