USAA Adding as Many as 3,500 New Positions Through 2015

March 6, 2013

San Antonio-based USAA announced plans to add as many as 3,500 net new jobs over the next three years to keep pace with its current and projected membership growth.

The initial expansions will be in San Antonio and Phoenix, where acquisition and planning of additional office space is already under way. The positions include member contact representatives in investments, insurance, banking and claims; underwriters; information security specialists; business and financial analysts; and modeling and statistical analysts.

The San Antonio expansion could bring as many as 1,000 new jobs by the end of 2015 to its headquarters community where it already employs more than 16,400 people. To supplement its main campus, which USAA estimates is at nearly 90 percent capacity, it will occupy additional leased space in the San Antonio area.

In Phoenix, USAA plans to break ground next month on construction of a 380,000-square-foot expansion of its existing campus in northern Phoenix. The larger office space is expected to house as many as 1,000 new employees by the end of 2015. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014.

In conjunction with its expansion plans, USAA also reaffirmed its commitment to hire from the military community – a commitment that led to USAA being named the No. 1 Military Friendly Employer in 2013 by G.I. Jobs magazine. Since 2005, USAA has hired more than 6,000 military veterans and spouses, an outcome of its ongoing commitment to have at least one of every four new hires be either a military veteran or spouse.
