Julia Rathgeber, newly appointed Commissioner of the Texas Department of Insurance, will speak at the 21st annual Mid-Year Property and Casualty Insurance Symposium. The Symposium will be held in Austin on Thursday, July 18, at the Sheraton Austin Hotel.
Prior to her appointment, Rathgeber was deputy chief of staff in the Office of Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. She is a past director of research for the Texas General Land Office, and a past director of the strategic assessment division for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, now the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Rathgeber received a bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Commissioner Rathgeber will join Dr. Bob Hartwig, Dr. Paul Atchley and Jay Thompson as featured speakers at the Symposium. The event is jointly sponsored by the Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) and the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies in Texas (AFACT).
