Oklahoma Mourns P/C Insurance Guaranty Assoc. Manager Fitch

June 24, 2015

The Oklahoma Insurance Department reported the loss of Larry W. Fitch, 71, who was the general manager of the Oklahoma Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association. Fitch died on June 19.

“Larry has played a major role in the Oklahoma insurance industry for more than forty years,” Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak said. “Larry always looked for ways to learn more about insurance issues, and he was always a prominent participant in our educational conferences. He will be greatly missed.”

Fitch spent 30 years at United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company in various management roles. He joined the Oklahoma Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association in 2006 where he served as general manager until his death. The Guaranty Association is comprised of all licensed property and casualty insurance companies and steps in to protect policyholders in the event one of the companies experiences serious financial problems.

As a Certified Insurance Counselor, Fitch also served as an education consultant with The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. In 2009, he received the Insurance Industry Service Award presented by the Central Oklahoma Chapter of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter Society.

Fitch leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Linda, two sons and six grandchildren. A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, 1201 N. Robinson.

The family has suggested charitable donations to honor Larry instead of flowers. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to one of Larry’s favorite charities: The PKD Foundation for Polycystic Kidney Disease, Wounded Warrior Project or First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.
