Texas OKs 11 Companies to Self-Insure for Workers’ Comp

The Texas Department of Insurance’s Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) re-certified 11 employers to self-insure workers’ compensation claims. Together, the companies employ about 50,000 people in Texas.

DWC renewed:

  • American Electric Power Company Inc.
  • Archer-Daniels-Midland Company
  • FedEx Ground Package System Inc.
  • Hyatt Corporation
  • Lockheed Martin Corporation
  • MasTec Inc.
  • Parker-Hannifin Corporation
  • Poly-America L.P.
  • Poly Trucking Inc.
  • Union Tank Car Company
  • United Airlines Inc.

To be certified to self-insure, a company must meet state requirements and have a minimum workers’ compensation insurance unmodified manual premium of $500,000.
