Size of Firms Allowed to Participate in Insure Oklahoma Expands

September 23, 2015

Gov. Mary Fallin says Insure Oklahoma is increasing the size limit of employers who can participate in the program.

Fallin and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority said that Insure Oklahoma is raising its employer size limit from 99 to 250 employees, effective immediately.

Insure Oklahoma is the state’s premium assistance program that helps businesses and their middle- to low-income employees afford health insurance coverage.

Insure Oklahoma’s funding can support premium assistance for about 30,000 individuals. Increasing the employer size limit to 250 employees will allow Insure Oklahoma to maximize usage.

Insure Oklahoma launched in 2005 with an employer size limit of 25 employees. It’s the third time the size limit has been increased.

Fallin says the change will improve health outcomes and responsibly expand access to health care.
