IIAD’s Land Named InVEST Volunteer of the Year

August 26, 2016

The InVEST Program has named Tammy Land, executive director of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD) with the Dach Award.

The Dach Award honors an insurance industry volunteer who has made tremendous contribution in fostering the growth and development of InVEST.

Land introduced InVEST to Woodrow Wilson High School in 2012 and has continued efforts to expand the program.

Denise Tucker, The Academy of Finance Director at Woodrow Wilson High School said the Academy’s “college attendance rate was 20 percent upon graduation when Tammy and her team first started teaching insurance at our school. This year, I am proud to announce that 91 percent of our seniors have applied to colleges. This is amazing since 98 percent of the Academy’s students live below the poverty level.”

Land was nominated for the award by Denise Tucker and by IIAD Association President John Losurdo.

In addition to her numerous achievements with the Woodrow Wilson High School program, Land serves as the InVEST State Champion for Texas, where she shares ideas and information with peers within the state and nationally. She heads a volunteer committee within IIAD consisting of its members/associate members, including Errica Rivera with State Auto who sits on the InVEST board of directors.

Land will be presented the award at the IIABA Fall Leadership Conference in Chicago, Ill., Sept. 8-10, 2016.

Founded in 1970 and based in Alexandria, Va., InVEST promotes insurance education in order to attract individuals to pursue a career in the insurance industry. Each year, the program prepares thousands of students for insurance-related careers with a hands-on curriculum taught in high schools, adult education centers and community colleges.
