Darrick Lee, a licensed attorney in both Louisiana and Texas, has been appointed fraud manager in the Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration (OWCA) at the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Lee has 13 years of civil service experience. Prior to this appointment, he presented claims before the OWCA Second Injury Board and provided legal advice to its members. Additionally, he litigated cases before the Workers’ Compensation Courts, securing monetary judgments against companies that failed to secure Worker’s Compensation insurance and ensuring that prosecuted business owners fulfilled their insurance obligations.

As a member of the GAME-ON (Government Against Misclassified Employees Operational Network) task force, he also participates in the strategic planning and examination of companies under investigation for suspected fraud. GAME-ON is an interagency network made up of members of the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s (LWC) Unemployment Insurance and Office of Workers’ Compensation Administration divisions and the Louisiana Department of Revenue. The task force also collaborates with the IRS and the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Wage and Hour Division.

Lee established a successful track record as a mediator in OWCA District I East, resolving more than 60 percent of the cases he mediated. His experience also includes litigation for daycare licensing revocation and bringing Risk Evaluation Panel cases before Administrative Courts.

During his tenure as an attorney with the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), he offered legal counsel regarding EEOC claims and Employment Law litigation. He also utilized his legal expertise as an attorney with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), where he litigated Rate and Audit Reimbursement cases in both Administrative Courts and Louisiana District Courts.

Among his other professional highlights are litigating both Medicaid eligibility and nursing home licensing cases, as well as helping achieve I.R.S. 501 (C) (3) status of the Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum.
