Collier Appointed COO of Austin’s Service American Indemnity

Steve Collier has been named chief operating officer at Austin, Texas-based Service American Indemnity Co. (SAIC), which will be officially launched on March 1, 2019.

SAIC was founded on March 1, 2018, following Service Insurance Holdings Inc.’s acquisition of American Healthcare Indemnity Co. (AHIC). The current announcement and the upcoming national launch follow the closing of licensing and other agreements.

Collier is responsible for leading SAIC operations and the company’s overall strategy and execution of its national expansion. Under his leadership, SAIC will offer program business managers the opportunity to expand their footprint throughout the US through fronting arrangements for workers’ compensation, as well as multi-line programs.

Collier brings 40 years insurance experience in a variety of executive leadership roles and most recently held the position of vice president of Underwriting and managing director for Service Lloyds Insurance Co., a Service Insurance Holding company. As the point person for the acquisition and implementation of Service American Indemnity, Collier brings an intimate understanding of the opportunities afforded through expansion of the company’s business to a national platform.

Since joining Service Lloyds in 2000, Collier has been responsible for major changes in the company’s operations, most notably establishing the company’s claims reserving practices, underwriting risk selection standards, implementation of a valued added risk control model, and incorporating field underwriting combined with marketing. In addition, he led the company through a complete retooling of its technology to meet the needs of this expansion.

Service American Indemnity was formed with a goal to augment and expand the company geographically through writing program business on a national scale. The company offers fronting company services utilizing its extensive experience and history of success in writing workers’ compensation business.

Service American and its sister company, Service Lloyds, are pooled and operate under the Service Insurance Holdings Inc. parent which is wholly owned by the Gray Family. Service American Indemnity and Service Lloyds are rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best.
