There are an additional 772 reported coronavirus cases in Arkansas and 14 additional deaths due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, the Arkansas Department of Health reported.
The department said there are 48,811 confirmed coronavirus cases and 535 deaths, up from 48,039 cases and 521 deaths reported on Friday. The true number of cases in Arkansas is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.
The department reports 40,977 people have recovered from the virus and that there are 7,299 active cases, meaning they don’t include people who have died or recovered.
For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death. The vast majority of people recover.
