Texas Division of Workers’ Comp Seeks Public Comments On Proposed EDI Form Revisions

March 9, 2022

The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) is accepting public comments on proposed revisions to a pair of Electronic Data Interchange forms:

  • EDI-01, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Trading Partner Profile; and
  • EDI-02, Insurance Carrier or Trading Partner Medical Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Profile

Texas Labor Code Sections 411.032 and 413.007 require insurance carriers to report claim and medical billing information to DWC. These forms allow insurance carriers and trading partners to update their trading partner profiles for claim and medical EDI release 1.0 data submissions and designate their medical EDI compliance coordinators.

The revisions update the forms to meet new DWC form standards. We will update the EDI-01 form after rule amendments that require insurance carriers to report claim EDI in the release 3.1 format go into effect.

The revised forms are not a formal rule proposal under the Administrative Procedures Act. DWC will not treat comments as formal public comments. However, DWC will consider any substantive comment before adopting the revised forms.

DWC asks that comments be submitted by 5 p.m. CT on March 22, 2022.
