Patton Chosen to Serve on Superfund Committee of NAC

June 19, 2002

Virginia-based Lindene Patton, a vice president with Zurich North America’s Specialties business unit, has been chosen to be a member of the newly formed Superfund Subcommittee to the National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT).

The subcommittee will spearhead the national dialogue on the Superfund program and will provide recommendations on the major Superfund issues. Zurich North America is a provider of environmental liability coverages and risk management solutions.

The NACEPT Superfund Subcommittee will make recommendations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which formed NACEPT in 1988, on the role Superfund should play in addressing the nation’s most polluted and costly hazardous waste sites. Patton will serve on the council alongside other environmental experts, including senior-level decision makers and experts from academia, business and industry, community and environmental advocacy groups, and governmental and professional organizations.

“I’m looking forward to being an active player on the NACEPT Superfund Subcommittee,” Patton said. “We have clearly reached a crossroads on the future of Superfund, and I’m hopeful that through the immense expertise assembled for the NACEPT Superfund Subcommittee we can chart a new direction for this program. Insurance products have an important role to play in improving and expediting Superfund cleanups.”
