Builders Launches New GL Product

November 15, 2002

Builders Insurance Group of Atlanta announced that effective immediately, Builders Insurance (A Mutual Captive Company) will begin writing general liability coverage for residential general contractors (RGCs). This product introduction is in response to the decreasing availability of general liability coverage for RGCs and Builders’ desire to further serve the needs of its core customers by offering this new line of insurance.

Distribution of general liability coverage will initially be limited to a small group of pilot agents to assure Builders’ servicing levels and systems are adequate. At a later date, coverage will become available to select agents with RGC experience. Other lines of coverage, such as property, builder’s risk, umbrella, and inland marine are being considered for future launch.

While some insurance entities are curtailing their involvement in the general liability market, Builders is pleased to offer this product to Georgia RGCs. Having 10 years of solid experience in providing workers’ compensation to the home building industry, Builders has established relationships with thousands of successful builders who have produced outstanding loss ratios. These factors, along with stringent underwriting guidelines, conservative decision making, efficient back office systems and agents with significant RGC expertise, will contribute to the ultimate success of this new program.
