NCCI Elects Albano, McClung to Board

The membership of Boca Raton, Fla.-based NCCI Holdings Inc., elected James A. McClung and John J. Albano to the company’s 2003-2004 Board of Directors. Twelve additional directors were reelected to the NCCI board.

John J. Albano is president and chief executive officer of the National Accounts Division of Commercial Lines, Travelers Insurance. He joined Travelers in 1971, working in Commercial Lines Underwriting and Marketing in New York. Since then, he has assumed positions of increasing responsibility with the company, handling the marketing and underwriting of small, mid-sized, and large commercial business accounts.

Albano served as regional vice president of the Northeast Region for 10 years beginning in 1987, where he was responsible for small and middle market accounts. In 1997, he became part of the National Accounts Division with responsibility for the Northeast Region. In 1998, Mr. Albano assumed the position of chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer for national accounts, working out of the home office in Hartford, Connecticut, and was promoted to president and chief executive officer in 2000.

A new non-insurer board member, James A. McClung is vice chairman of Charter Consulting. Charter Consulting is a boutique firm with a distinct focus on helping companies improve their business performance and operational excellence. Charter’s past engagements have included assignments with a large multiline insurance company and a top five insurance brokerage company.
Prior to this position, McClung served as a senior vice-president and executive officer for international operations at FMC Corporation. Presently, he serves as a board director for public and private companies including Alticor, Turtle Wax, and Nanophase Technologies Corporation. Mr. McClung also serves as a board director for Illinois Institute of Technology, the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird School), and the College of Wooster (Ohio).

The NCCI Board consists of both insurer and non-insurer representatives. Nominations and elections were conducted during the annual meeting portion of the company’s two-day Annual Issues Symposium in Orlando, Florida.

Klingel, president and CEO NCCI Holdings Inc.
