Allied Specialty to Continue Normal Operations Following Board Chairman’s Death

The board of directors of Florida-based Allied Specialty Insurance
Company Inc., a privately-held insurance agency that specializes in
insuring the amusement, leisure and entertainment industries, announced that normal company operations will continue following the death of board chairman David H. Smith. Smith died of medical complications on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the age of 48.

The board of directors has assumed interim CEO responsibilities and will oversee the day-to-day operation of the company, while the Allied management team will remain in place.

Smith’s wife, Mary Chris, will continue as a member of the board of directors, and will become more involved in the day-to-day operations of the company as well.

Board member Don Culpepper commented, “The business of the company will go on as usual. David was a brilliant man and he will be greatly missed. Fortunately, he had foreseen this eventuality, and had prepared the company thoroughly for it. Our customers and associates can be assured that we have an excellent management team in place to take the company forward. David’s vision and legacy will continue.”
