Kirkland Joins Beecher Carlson Holdings Atlanta Office

Beecher Carlson Holdings, Inc. has announced Barry Kirkland has been named managing director and team leader in its Atlanta office. Kirkland’s primary responsibility will be to assist in the expansion of the risk management practice.

Kirkland has 26 years of insurance industry experience. He began his career as a property and casualty underwriter with a large domestic insurance carrier, and joined the Atlanta office of Johnson & Higgins in 1985 as a property broker. In 1991, he was offered the opportunity to direct the corporate risk management program for a major J&H client where his responsibilities included insurance procurement, direction of self-insured workers’ compensation programs in 16 states, internal claims self-administration, fleet safety, loss control and security.

Kirkland rejoined Johnson & Higgins, now Marsh, in May of 1994. From 1994 to 2004 his responsibilities included insurance placement, department management and account management. He served as the client executive practice leader for the risk management operations focused on client satisfaction and retention, revenue growth and client executive development. Most recently he managed a client service unit serving more than 70 clients. With a background in Fortune 500 risk management accounts, he also maintained a book of business as a client executive.

Elected a managing director of Marsh in November 2001, Kirkland was named as one of the top 50 performing client executives of 2003.
