George Will to Address CPCU Class of 2005 in Atlanta

Insights on the Washington, D.C. scene and the current American political and economic landscape will be presented by columnist George F. Will, the featured speaker during the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters national conferment ceremony for the class of 2005 Oct. 23 in Atlanta.

Wills newspaper column appears twice weekly in nearly 500 newspapers, whose back-page essay is published bimonthly in Newsweek magazine, and appears every Sunday morning on ABC’s This Week. His column has been syndicated by The Washington Post since 1974. He became a regular contributing editor of Newsweek magazine in 1976. In 1977, he won a Pulitzer Prize for the commentary in his newspaper columns.

Will has published 12 books, including seven collections of his Washington Post and Newsweek columns and three books on political theory. Two of his books reflect his passion for baseball. Men at Work: The Craft of Baseball topped The New York Times bestseller list for two months. Bunts: Curt Flood, Camden Yards, Pete Rose and Other Reflections on Baseball is a best-selling collection of new and previously published writings by Will on baseball. In July 2000, he served on Major League Baseball’s Blue Ribbon Panel, examining baseball economics.

The American Institute’s conferment ceremony is held in conjuction with the CPCU Society’s Annual Meeting and Seminars, which will take place Oct. 22-25 in Atlanta.
