DFS Tells PIA of Fla.: Global Insurance Group an ‘Unauthorized Entity’

Some Professional Insurance Agents of Florida members have contacted the association’s headquarters in Tallahassee to ask about Global Insurance Group Inc. headquartered in Aventura, Fla. Global has been aggressively advertising “one of the lowest windstorm rates” in Florida.

PIA’s staff queried the Department of Financial Services’ company search and couldn’t find any related matches, so they alerted DFS.
Specialists at DFS responded that “Global Insurance Group is not a licensed insurer in this state. If it is offering windstorm coverage to Florida consumers, it is operating as an unauthorized entity.”

After leaving numerous messages with Global regarding their Florida licensure, a representative called PIA back, saying that they write their windstorm through Global Property and Casualty, a surplus lines carrier. DFS and the Surplus Lines Service Office have no record of that company either. Mary Mostoller, a specialist with DFS’s Office of Insurance Regulation, states, “Global Property and Casualty is NOT an eligible surplus lines insurer in this state.”
