W.Va. Governor Appoints Haden, Prunty to AccessWV Board of Directors

January 17, 2006

West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III has announced today appointment of David E. Haden and Paul Prunty to the AccessWV Board of Directors.

The AccessWV Board of Directors works to provide access to health insurance to medically eligible West Virginians who are unable to obtain coverage in the regular health insurance market. AccessWV also serves as a qualified health plan for the federal Health Care Tax Credit Program and as an option for persons with portability rights through the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

“My administration has been a strong supporter of AccessWV, which guarantees that all West Virginians who qualify can purchase health insurance coverage through the plan, regardless of their current and past health circumstances,” Manchin said. “Haden and Prunty have the knowledge and commitment necessary to help oversee this program and assure that it continues to meet its critical mission.”

Haden began a career in insurance in 1972. He sells life and health insurance under the name iSource, LLC and is based in Charleston. Haden succeeds Jim Roberts who resigned in 2005.

Prunty, who resides in Fairmont in Marion County, succeeds Gail Foley who resigned in 2005. Prunty is currently retired; however, he previously served 11 terms in the West Virginia House of Delegates.

The AccessWV Board of Directors consists of the Insurance Commissioner or her designated representative and six members appointed by the governor.

AccessWV began operations in July 2005 and currently enrolls 125 members. Information on AccessWV is available at www.accesswv.org or by calling toll-free 866-445-8491.
