S.C. Big ‘I’ Conference: Officials to Discuss Insurance Fraud, ‘Hot Topics’

Insurance fraud and “hot topics” facing the insurance industry will be discussed by South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster and Director of Insurance Elanor Kitzman during the March 22 and 23 annual Spring Conference and Exhibition held in Columbia, S.C. by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of South Carolina.

This event will kick off March 22 with IIABA of S.C.’s second annual Big ‘I’ day, during which members around the state will visit the capitol and discuss key insuarnce issues with their elected officials.

S.C. legislators participating in the annual Government Affairs Panel will discuss proposed legislation and other issues affecting the insurance industry. Scheduled panel members are: Sen. Harvey Peeler, Senate Majority Leader; Sen. Jim Ritchie, Senate Majority Whip; Rep. Harry Cato, LCI Committee chair; and Rep Kenny Bingham, Insurance Subcommittee chair.

Other topics will include a presentation by Larry W. Palmer of Selective Flood Insurance talking about Flood Insurance Issues and Answers; and agency sales and mergers, ownership and employment issues, including non-competes and trade secret issues involved in these transactions will be discussed by Columbia attorney Reece Williams.
