W.Va. Schedules April Workers’ Comp Informational Meetings

April 5, 2006

Informational meetings describing West Virginia’s transition to the National Council on Compensation Insurance system of workers’ compensation have been scheduled in eight locations from April 10 to 20, according to Insurance Commissioner Jane L. Cline.

NCCI is the oldest and largest provider of worker’s compensation and employee injury data and statistics in the nation. NCCI is operating in 38 states providing various levels of service and products.

“Utilizing the NCCI classification system will result in consistency with national standards,” Cline explained. “The NCCI classification system provides a larger diversity of classifications that are more uniform with our bordering states. This will prove invaluable when West Virginia opens the worker’s compensation market to private carriers in July 2008.”

Employers, TPAs, carriers, industry associations and other stake holders are invited to join the Insurance Commission in opening its doors to a new approach in the workers compensation market that reflects national standards and procedures.

Informational meetings will be held: April 10, 9 a.m., Days Inn Conference Center, Flatwoods; April 11, 9 a.m., Big Sandy Arena, Huntington; April 12, 9 a.m., Holiday Inn, Parkersburg; April 13, 9 a.m., Tamarack, Beckley; April 13, 1:30 p.m., Civic Center, Charleston; April 18, 1 p.m., Wheeling Island, Wheeling; April 19, 9 a.m., Lakeview Resort, Morgantown; and April 20, 10 a.m., Clarion Inn, Shepherdstown.
