AppRiver Introduces New Web-based Hosting Service

April 11, 2006

Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based AppRiver LLC has introduced its hosting service, featuring a web-based control panel, Shorline, providing the ability for organizations to benefit from advanced messaging and collaboration features in Outlook when using Exchange 2003.

AppRiver launched this product at the April 9 to 12 Microsoft Exchange Connections Conference in Orlando. Michael Murdoch, AppRiver’s CEO and co-founder said AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting with Shoreline will be available as part of a complete managed email service offering that also includes SecureTide, the company’s powerful inbound and outbound spam and virus protection.

“We designed our new hosting control panel to simplify speed and delivery of Exchange provisioning and management for service providers, VARs and end users,” said Michael Murdoch, AppRiver’s CEO and co-founder. “By giving administrators simple access to Exchange, Shoreline allows businesses and other organizations to benefit from the mobility, data synchronization and collaboration offerings of Exchange with significant time and cost savings.”

Exchange Hosting with Shoreline reduces the complexity and investment required to provision and maintain Exchange 2003. It enables administrators to benefit from the mobility, data synchronization and collaboration offerings of Exchange with minimal training and technical support. The product simplifies setup, provisioning, and management functions. It only requires administrators to log into the Shoreline Control Panel to access all of Exchange’s rich messaging and collaboration features. Shoreline also empowers end users, providing a web-based Outlook configuration wizard that allows them to set up accounts, access email settings for mobile devices, view mailbox usage and reset their own passwords.

Once logged in to Shoreline, administrators can quickly and easily change Exchange settings, such as adding users, changing storage quotas, and creating distribution groups, all in real-time. Shoreline also provides simple controls for email routing, domain aliases, forwarding, passwords and client configuration features.

Built using Microsoft .Net technology, Shoreline simplifies user migration, allowing administrators to migrate one user at a time, or all simultaneously. And, a unique Outlook client configuration wizard automatically transitions users from their old email environment to AppRiver’s Exchange Hosting platform.

All the features of Exchange and Outlook are provided, including: Public Folders; Distribution Groups; Domain and User Level Rules; Outlook 2003; Outlook Web Access; Outlook Mobile Access and ActiveSync. Blackberry Enterprise Server and GoodLink are also available.

AppRiver’s Exchange environment features a clustered and redundant architecture that eliminates the opportunity for a single point of failure. The hosting facilities are SAS 70 Level II Certified, and Microsoft-certified staff members are on site to provide any necessary technical support. AppRiver also will make the Shoreline provisioning system available to OEMs and ISPs. Complete technical and pricing information can be found at http://www.AppRiver.com.
