Severe weather and tornadoes moved through several North Mississippi counties on May 8 causing damage to property and infrastructure.
The state emergency operations center in Pearl, Miss. posted initial damage reports in four counties including building and roof damage to the Mississippi Department of Transportation district office in Tupelo. Lee County also experienced minor roof damage at Barnes Crossing Mall and nearby neighborhoods, flash flooding near Saltillo and seven roads closed in Panola due to flash flooding. A portion of the Furniture Market on Coley Road in Tupelo was destroyed.
Trees and power lines blew down in Lafayette County and debris build-up caused five road closures.
Itawamba and Tallahatchie Counties reported several structures damaged, trees toppled and power lines down.
There were no injuries, according to initial reports.
