State Farm’s Return to Mississippi Home Insurance Market Excludes Coast

June 11, 2009

State Farm will resume writing homeowners’ insurance policies for a majority of the state starting June 15.

A company spokesman said that residents in the coastal counties of Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties are excluded from the company’s policy change.

In January, the company resumed selling renters insurance in the state — except in those same three counties.

Illinois-based State Farm, the state’s largest insurer, stopped writing new homeowners and renters policies in the state following Hurricane Katrina.
