Florida Municipal Insurance Trust Says 2009 a ‘Record’ Year

December 15, 2009

The non-profit insurance trust for cities and towns in Florida reports it had a record-breaking year in 2009, with a 35 percent increase in written premiums and a 92 percent renewal rate among its municipal customers.

The Florida Municipal Insurance Trust also said it was able to save municipalities an average of 12 percent on their premiums during the 2009-2010 new business and renewal season (June – October 2009) at a time when many are under pressure to reduce costs.

The FMIT said it grew its member base to 607, an increase of two percent from last year, and added the cities of Delray and Pensacola, Lake County Schools, Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and six new counties to its client roster.
