MetLife Auto & Home Enhances Personal Lines Policy for North Carolina Residents

April 20, 2011

MetLife Auto & Home has introduced a number of product and coverage enhancements, including the launch of GrandProtect, its personal lines policy package, to residents of North Carolina. The enhancements are effective immediately for new customers and May 31 for renewal customers.

GrandProtect provides personal insurance protection for consumers with more complex insurance needs and offers auto, home, and other personal insurance into one policy package with one bill and one renewal date. GrandProtect offers Coverage A Plus, which provides the full cost to repair or replace a customer’s home, even if that cost exceeds the policy limit. It also provides additional coverages that usually require add-ons or endorsements, including higher built-in limits for jewelry, silverware, and securities; water backup and sump coverage; and “loss assessment” coverage.

The other coverage enhancements, which will be available for standard policies as well as GrandProtect, include:
· New Auto Replacement for Total Losses – this enhancement to the auto policy does not deduct for depreciation if a policyholder’s new purchased car is totaled in a covered loss within one year of purchase or 15,000 miles.
· Rented Vehicle Coverage – this enhancement to the auto policy provides coverage for damage to a rented vehicle, including loss of use charges and other relevant expenses.
· Coverage A Plus – this enhancement to the standard home policy covers the full cost to repair or replace a consumer’s home, even if that cost exceeds the policy limit.
· Identity Theft Expense and Resolution Plus – this optional endorsement to both the auto and homeowners policy provides up to $25,000 in identity theft expense coverage and recovery services.
The company is also introducing several new product offerings, including an enhanced Landlord Product, as well ascoverage for ATVs, dune buggies, and other off-road vehicles.
