An attorney for Steve Nunn says the former state lawmaker has pleaded guilty to murdering his ex-fiance and has received a sentence of life without parole.
Nunn entered the plea Tuesday morning in Fayette Circuit Court in Lexington, according to his attorney, Bette Niemi of Louisville.
Nunn, the son of former Kentucky Gov. Louis B. Nunn, had been set to go on trial in August in the death of 29-year-old Amanda Ross, who was shot outside her Lexington home Sept. 11, 2009.
Ross was director of the Financial Standards and Examination division of the Kentucky Department of Insurance.
Niemi said Steve Nunn also pleaded guilty to violating a domestic violence order.
The attorney says negotiations have been ongoing and a deal was reached late last week.
