West Virginia Nursing Home Owes $124K in Back Pay to 500 Workers

December 27, 2017

A West Virginia nursing home and rehabilitation company has agreed to pay nearly $124,000 in back wages and damages to about 500 workers to resolve allegations that it violated overtime rules.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced the settlement Thursday with Charleston-based Stonerise Healthcare LLC.

A statement says an investigation found the company failed to include six types of bonus payments in employees’ regular rates of pay, resulting in artificially lowered overtime rates.

The company agreed to pay $62,000 in both back wages and damages to employees at 16 facilities in West Virginia.
