May 6, 2019

Florida’s insurer of last resort, Citizens Property Insurance Corp., has a new board member. Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis has appointed Bo Rivard insurer’s Board of Governors, effective immediately. His term expires on July 31, 2020.

Rivard succeeds John McKay, a former Florida Senate President who served on the board from 2017 until he resigned in March.

A resident of Panama City, Rivard has more than 20 years of experience working for the families and businesses in the state, Patronis said in a statement.

Rivard is a partner at Harrison, Rivard, Duncan, & Buzzett who recently served as chairman of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission where he was a staunch proponent of conservation—the well-being of wildlife and marine resources, and the benefit of people.

As an attorney, he has represented both public and private companies including those in the health care, transportation, and other regulated industries.

“Bo has been a fierce advocate for both Florida families and business for more than 20 years, and I’m thrilled that he will be joining the Citizens board. He has seen first-hand the financial impact of natural disasters, and I know he will work tirelessly for every policyholder,” Patronis said. “Bo’s experience with statewide boards and commissions, as well as his private and public sector work and depth of skill, will help this board better serve each and every Floridian.”

Rivard said his top priority is “to ensure Floridians are at the forefront of every decision made, and I look forward to advocating every day for the families who call our state home.”

“I thank CFO Jimmy Patronis for his confidence in me, and I look forward to serving the people of Florida in this new capacity,” he said.
