Diaz currently serves as executive vice president at Ballard Partners and partner at the Panza Maurer law firm. He replaces John Wortman, who was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in 2011 and reappointed by former House Speaker Richard Corcoran in 2016.

Diaz served in the Florida House from 2011 to 2017. His tenure included a term as chairman of the House Regulatory Affairs Committee, where he was worked on insurance issues and was instrumental in the passage of legislation establishing the Property Insurance Clearinghouse and other issues affecting the Florida property insurance market, according to Citizens.

“Citizens is the largest public insurance company (and residual carrier) in the United States. It actively protects over 450,000 homes in our great state. I take this charge very seriously and cannot wait to do my part on this very consequential board,” Diaz said in a statement following his appointment.
