People Moves: Security First Names Lockhart CFO; Freeland Joins Alliant in Tenn.; SIU Adds Hayes Everett in Georgia

Lockhart Named CFO of Florida-Based Security First Insurance

Security First Insurance, a private homeowners insurer in Florida, has promoted David Lockhart to chief financial officer, effective June 1.

Lockhart will report to the company’s President Melissa Burt DeVriese and succeeds Clive Becker-Jones who is retiring from the company after serving as chief financial officer for 10 years.

Lockhart joined Security First Insurance as controller in November 2016, bringing nearly 15 years of accounting and insurance experience to the organization. Prior to joining Security First Insurance, Lockhart held a variety of positions across insurance and finance companies including chief financial officer, controller and auditor.

Lockhart is responsible for managing the company’s overall accounting functions, including financial reporting, controls, and operations.

Security First Insurance also named Brad Jones as controller. Jones has worked with the company since 2019 as an assistant controller with more than 18 years of accounting experience. He will continue reporting to Lockhart. Lockhart oversees a team of insurance professionals including the controller, statutory accountants, treasury accountant, corporate staff accountant, and support specialists.

Freeland Joins Alliant Insurance Services

Alliant Insurance Services has added Abe Freeland to the company as executive vice president, Real Estate. Freeland’s experience as a risk manager for a global design-build firm will be used to lead clients’ large, complex insurance placements and risk management initiatives.

He will be based in Nashville, Tenn.

Freeland will also develop and implement client risk management forums.

Freeland’s experience extends across multiple platforms, and he is a frequent speaker on insurance matters for universities and law firms. Prior to joining Alliant, Freeland co-led the Real Estate and Hospitality practice for a global brokerage firm. Freeland previously worked as the North American Risk Manager for a global environmental services organization.

SIU Adds Hayes Everett to Commercial P&C Team in Georgia

Southern Insurance Underwriters, Inc. (SIU) has added Haley Hayes Everett to its Commercial P&C Team. She is based at the company’s offices in Alpharetta, Ga.

Hayes Everett comes to SIU with experience on the retail side and has spent the last 19 years in the E&S sector underwriting new business P&C and professional lines for retail agents.

She spent some of those years as part of the International Insurance Professionals organization on local and state levels. Hayes Everett has served on the Young Agents of NC iLead committee for the past 14 years and serves as the co-chair of the Philanthropy Committee

SIU offers a range of products and markets to over 3,000 independent insurance agents including personal property, workers’ compensation, inland marine, professional lines, forest products, commercial transportation and commercial property and casualty.
