People Moves: Sedgwick Pooling; Synapse Gets Energy

Memphis-based Sedgwick, the national claims management and benefits firm, announced it had elevated two longtime officers to new positions.

Micheon Balmer will be managing director over Sedgwick’s national pooling operations in California, Michigan and Texas and will oversee specialty business. Balmer has more than 20 years in governmental risk pools and recently was Sedgwick’s vice president of pooling, the company said in a news release.

John Brockschmidt was named senior vice president of strategic client management of pool administration. He has been a senior leader of pooling operations at Sedgwick.

Synapse Services, a specialty wholesale insurance broker, has appointed Emris Graham to lead its new dedicated energy practice, based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Graham has 16 years’ experience broking complex energy-related risks, mostly as senior vice president with McGriff, Seibels and Williams’ energy and construction practice and with Stephens Insurance, Synapse said.

He will continue to specialize in broking upstream, midstream and downstream risks, but now in a wholesale capacity, the company said in a news release.
